Traveling to Battambang Province in Cambodia

Battamnang is one of the beautiful province of Cambodia located at the northwest part of the country. The province is one of the nine province that laid along by the greatest lake in Asia called Tonle Sap Lake. In the literal meaning of Battambang is the lost stick province which represents by the black man who old the big stick called Ta Dambang Kronhoung. It is like a giant hold the stick that found lost and now back to his hand to be protected. Today, the province of Battambang has 13 districts, 96 communes, and 741 villages, covering an area of 11,622 km² with a population of 1,024,663 persons estimated.

Farming land in this province known to be the largest produce of rice crop among other provinces in the country. For one hectare of rice field yielded 2.2 ton which provide more than enough food security to its people of the province and for the country as a whole including exporting.

Beside doing the farming works in the rainy season, people do certain kind of gardening work like planting orange field, vegetable, and other crops. Of course animal raising and fishing is one of their main business too.

Attraction to Battambang

There are so many nice places and resorts to visit in Battambang province but 3 main places that people like to visit the most is in the area of Wat Ek Phnom, Wat Banan, and Boeung Kamping Pouy. Phnom Sam Pov Resort is a nice place that also mentioned in the song of Sin Sisamut in the 1960s which features natural wells at the mountain site and the ancient temples. Another resort is Sek Sak, it has long attracted local tourists to come and visit especially during the holidays. 

Planing to travel there during Khmer New Year holiday is the best for there are so many things to enjoy including in the province central and outskirt of Battambang province.

Main crops like corn, beans, oranges, sesame, and especially rice produced prosperously every year. The classify as flooding land, agricultural land, town land, and village land. It is the second largest city of Cambodia.
